How To Increase Battery Life Of Android Phones?

There are many reasons for us to want to increase the battery life of our Android phones. Maybe you are constantly using the phone throughout the day but without the chance of charging it. Perhaps you are going on a road trip of several hours, or you just want it to last as much as possible.

Well, this time we bring you seven things you can do in any of these cases, and we believe that they are so easy to do that you can keep the settings for everyday usage.

All the options we will mention are free, except for the last one. However, we think you will get enough extra power with these tips.

Let’s continue reading about this topic:

Choose Settings That Use Less Battery

There are easy ways to increase battery life, or rather extend it. Below we will give all the details about it, step by step so you can know exactly what to do. Let’s take a look:

Let your screen turn off sooner

If you are not used to blocking your phone after you use it, it is more likely that the screen remains on for more time than necessary. To reduce that time follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap on Display
  • Find the option “Sleep”
  • Choose the option that works best for you, we suggest from 15 seconds to 1 minute, to save more battery life.

Reduce screen brightness

The brighter is your screen, the more battery it will consume. That is why we suggest you reduce it whenever you feel that it is not necessary to have a bright screen.

However, we need to point out that there is an option called Adaptive Brightness that will automatically change the brightness level depending on the available light. Although it sounds more attractive, we do not recommend it. When it is sunny outside it will probably increase the brightness more than it needs to be. In the end, it will have a big impact on your battery life.

To reduce the screen brightness manually you only have to slide down the notification bar and adjust the slider until you feel comfortable, which means that you can read without problem.

Turn off keyboard sounds or vibrations

Changing little things like this can make a great difference at the end of the day. Let’s see how to turn this off:

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap on Languages & Input
  • Find the “Virtual Keyboard” Option
  • Choose the keyboard that you are currently using
  • Some settings will appear. Tap on Preferences
  • Find the options that say “Sound on keypress” and “Vibrate on keypress”
  • Turn them off

Restrict apps with high battery use

Although you maybe do not notice this, some apps are always working in the background to find new notifications and updates. It is advisable to turn these notifications off. You will get them once you enter the app. Below you have the steps to restricts these apps:

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap on Apps
  • Select the App that you want to restrict
  • Find the option that says “Notifications”
  • There you will find different options
  • Slide on “Block all”

Turn on adaptive battery or battery optimization

This option is on top of the settings because it will automatically manage the battery usage, depending on if you are using your phone or not. However, not all Android versions have this option. To check if you have it follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap on Battery
  • Find “Adaptive Battery” and slice to turn on

If you do not have this option, you can still find another that says “Battery optimization”. It should be on the same menu. Turn it on for all the apps available.

Turn off your network data while not using it

Especially when you are using a Wi-Fi connection, so you do not need cellular data. When you have it on, your phone will be always working to find better data reception. Turn it off like this:

  • First, go to the settings menu
  • Tap Data or Data Usage (the name could change depending on the model)
  • Move the Cellular Data switch off

You can also swipe down the notification bar, then look for the mobile data icon and click to disable.

Try Dark Mode (with the right screen)

When we say the right screen, we refer to phones that have OLED or AMOLED displays. It means that all the black pixels in your phone are turned off. When you enable dark mode, a big part of the display goes dark, which means that you will save more battery. Let’s learn how to do it:

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap on Display
  • Find the “Advanced” option, and then tap on “Device theme”
  • Activate the “Dark setting

Stay away from moving wallpapers

Although we understand that they are more attractive, we suggest you rely on simple wallpapers with not too many colors. Moving wallpapers eat up more energy than you think!

Buy A Portable Battery

If you are not yet convinced about the alternatives we described above (or you do not want to do them), you can choose to use a power bank. If you are running out of battery in an important situation, just connect your phone to this device and you will have extra power!

Frequently Asked Questions

You should restrict those apps that usually work in the background and be careful with the brightness of your screen.
