How To Increase Battery Life of iPhones?
Nowadays, running out of battery does not seem to be an option. We spend a big part of our day checking our social media, new emails and messages. That is why we want to give you some tips to get the most of your battery.
Do not miss all the info that we have prepared for you. Let’s continue reading and find out more about this:
Change Some Settings To Use Less Battery
1. Check app-by-app battery usage
Imagine that you are in a situation where you are running out of battery but you need to use your phone to receive a call or message. One good thing that you can do is to check those power-hungry apps on your iPhone. The phone keeps a record of the apps that have used the most power for a week. Remember than even when you are not actively using an app; it can be working in the background. This knowledge will help you to stop using those apps when you most need to have battery.
Let’s see how to check this:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap on Battery.
- You will see the list of all the apps used in the last days.
2. Lower screen brightness
As you can imagine, the brightness of the display can make a huge impact in the battery life. The brighter is your screen, the more battery it will consume. You can easily reduce the brightness using the slider in the Control Center.
Some people believe that using the Auto-Brightness option can help, because the phone automatically changes the change the brightness level depending on the available light. However, we do not recommend using this option, although you live in a city where the weather is cloudy most of the times.
It is because during the day when it is sunny, it will probably increase the brightness more than it needs to be. You will end with less battery!
In any case, let’s see how to disable this option in case you need it:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap on Accessibility.
- Find the option called “Display & Text Size”
- Turn off Auto-Brightness.
3. Turn your Flashlight down low
Everything that involves brightness reduces the battery life. In this case, iPhone cell phones get a point because iOS 11 phones bring you the possibility of changing the brightness levels.
These phones have four brightness levels for the flashlight. In case that you use it frequently, it is a good idea to set the lowest setting. Let’s see how you can do this:
- Swipe up for the Control Center
- Tap the ‘Flashlight‘ toggle to turn it on.
- Long press the toggle (force touch or 3D touch)
- Adjust the brightness with the slider that will appear.
4. Use Low Power Mode
This is another useful tool to use when you need urgently to have battery for more time. This option will reduce or disable several features that are power-hungry, and that you probably will not need in that time. Some of them are email synchronization, “Hey Siri”, apps working in the background automatic downloads and more.
This option activates automatically when the cell phone hits 20% of battery. However, you can activate it manually like this:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap on Battery.
- Activate the “Low Power Mode” slider.
5. Disable sync
Although you cannot see it working, your cell phone is constantly looking for new messages, new emails and updates. Of course, it is ideal because you do not have to enter to the app to check if there is something new. However, we believe this can be dispensed with in emergencies. You can check your email later, when charging your phone.
Let’s see how to disable this:
- Go to Settings:
- Tap on Accounts & Passwords
- Tap on Fetch New Data
- Change the option to Manually
6. Limit background app refresh and auto downloads
When we say that an app is working in the background, we mean that it is working even if you do not have it open. It is because some apps refresh their content from time to time, to bring up new notifications and also to get you the newest content the next time you open it. It is totally useful, but it is also a drain on battery life.
To disable this option follow these steps:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap on General.
- Tap on Background App Refresh
- You have the option of turning it off completely or also select those apps that want to be working in the background.
On the other hand, auto downloads also consume battery, because the phone is always looking for new updates and the downloading them. If you do not notice, it can consume all the battery you need. To disable the option and put it manually follow the next steps:
- Go to Settings
- Tap on iTunes & App Store.
- Tap on Automatic Downloads.
- Turn it off.
Other things you can do that will work to increase battery life is to disable some visual effects (Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion), reduce the time for Auto-Lock (Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock) and restrict notifications (Settings > Notifications).
Everything together will help you to get a few more hours of power in your cell phone!
Buy A Portable Battery
Maybe you just do not want to depend on the extra time that the alternatives we described above can give you. In that case, you can consider getting a power bank. Another great option is to get a battery case, then your phone will be save and charged! Some of them can give you up to 50% longer battery life.
We can be sure that everything mentioned here can have a huge impact in your battery life, especially if you apply them all at once. In those moments where we need to have power for a few hours more, checking hungry-apps may not be a priority! We also believe that getting the power bank or the battery case are great options to keep your phone on for longer.
