What Is My eSIM Phone Number? How to Find It on iPhone and Android

Most travel eSIMs are data-only, so they come without a phone number. Some eSIMs do include one, and you can find it in your phone's settings in under a minute. This guide shows where to look on iPhone and Android, what to do when no number appears, and how to keep calling and texting when your eSIM only has data.

Does an eSIM have a phone number?

It depends on the plan, not on the eSIM itself. An eSIM is a digital SIM card built into your phone. The plan you install on it decides what you get:

• Data-only eSIM: mobile internet only, no phone number. This is the most common type of travel eSIM, including most SimOptions plans.
• eSIM with calls and SMS: data plus a phone number for calling and texting. Your main carrier's eSIM works this way, and so do some travel plans.

Your plan details always say which type you have. On SimOptions, every plan lists Calls & SMS and eSIM Number before you buy.

How to find your eSIM number on iPhone

1. Open Settings and tap Cellular (called Mobile Service or Mobile Data in some countries).
2. Under SIMs, tap the eSIM line you want to check.
3. Look for My Number. If the plan has a phone number, it appears here.

How to find your eSIM number on Android

• Google Pixel: open Settings > About phone. Each SIM has its own Phone number entry. Under SIM status you also find the EID, your eSIM's unique ID (Pixel Phone Help).
• Samsung Galaxy: open Settings > About phone. Your number is listed at the top for each SIM (Samsung Support). You can also check Settings > Connections > SIM manager.
• Other Android phones: look in Settings > About phone or Settings > Network & internet > SIMs. Menu names vary by brand and Android version.

Why does my eSIM number say "Unknown"?

If the number field is empty or shows "Unknown", there are two common reasons:

• The plan is data-only. There is no number to show. Check your plan details or order confirmation.
• The carrier did not store the number on the eSIM. Your number still works, but the phone cannot read it. Call or text another phone to see it, check your carrier's app, or ask your carrier.

Note that dialling *#06# does not show your phone number. It shows your phone's IMEI and, on many eSIM phones, the EID. These identify the device and the eSIM, not your line.

How to call and text with a data-only eSIM

A data-only eSIM still keeps you reachable. You have two good options.

1. Keep your home number on the same phone

Phones with eSIM support can run your home line and your travel eSIM side by side. Set the travel eSIM for mobile data and keep your home line for calls and texts. To avoid roaming charges on your home line, turn off data roaming for it (see the correct roaming settings for an eSIM) and, on iPhone, turn off Allow Cellular Data Switching. Your home number stays active, so people can still reach you. Your home carrier may charge for calls and texts you make or receive abroad, so check their roaming rates.

2. Use calling and messaging apps

Apps such as WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage, Telegram and Signal run over mobile data. They keep using your existing account and number, whichever eSIM provides the data. Can I get an eSIM with a phone number?

Yes. Your carrier's main eSIM always has a number, and some travel eSIMs include one too. On SimOptions, check eSIM Number in the plan details. Bouygues Telecom's Europe plans include a French (+33) number.

Can I keep my own number while using a travel eSIM for data?
